Balancing Career and Home

May 7th, 2009 In Family,

Everyone aspires to be able to balance home and career, for others it was easy and for some it remains a dream.

At first it was really hard for a single mother like me to balance career and home. Being a single mom seems like the weight of the world is on my shoulder. Needing to have both ends meet, I have to work so hard and juggle between career and home. Working in a call center even added to the weight that I was feeling… working late at night until the morning and going home feeling drenched and stressed out.

When I get home, I can hardly eat my breakfast and change my working clothes, let alone do I have the time to talk and play with my three year old toddler. I love my daughter and every time I see her terry eyed when I came home and don’t have time to play and talk with her really breaks my heart. But what can I do? I need the job at the call center, cause of its generous pay, so that I can provide the needs of my daughter. It was really hard on my part until I found the perfect solution - and that’s working at home. Together with my siblings, we decided to work home based. At first it was very hard but then it was a challenge at the same time too.

For the first two months we have no clients and we barely have enough to meet our needs. Then came our first clients, taking pride in our work, we were able to meet the needs and demands of our clients. Life became easier then; financially we were able to meet our needs with some extra funds to tuck away for rainy days. But the most important thing is that I find it easy now to spend more time with my child and the rest of the family members. I can now balance my career and my home.

The technique was quite simple, going to work with a happy disposition and giving your best and then spending quality time with my baby that would create good memories she will cherish when she grows up. Now I realize, if you have the will and the determination to achieve your dreams, it will happen. I am lucky because I know now that dreams really do come true
